I am Sharon K. Summerfield, Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Breath Coach;  and the founder of The Nourished Executive.

At The Nourished Executive we are passionate about coaching business professionals to manage stress and nourish their wellbeing to avoid burnout.  Together we help you discover the sweet spot to move from surviving to thriving, intertwined with psychological safety, built on a foundation of nutrition and wellness.  This is a conversation looking at strategies to harmonize life where work is only one part.

I have an extensive interest in nutrition and wellness, where I have incorporated more nourishing food in my daily life, along with the projects, events, meetings and conferences I have planned. I am a life-long learner, systems thinker, and love to read, with a strong commitment to giving back and lifting others. One of my joys is to take traditional recipes and make them more nutrient dense by incorporating more super foods. I am a connector and love to find those intersections where we find ways to support and lift each other to work in collaboration.

A little history about me,

Working across the sectors I found I was pulled in many directions trying to keep many balls in the air, working harder not smarter, saying yes more than no, where investing in my self care and scheduling down time was getting further and further out of reach. Sadly I was also experiencing many symptoms of burnout.

My definition of burnout is:

Being exhausted on every level. The joy you once felt is gone and you feel isolated and alone. It is difficult to concentrate, connect and build relationships as that all takes energy, you are unable to find, no matter how hard you try.

Then life happened. In 2014, after working for a large engineering firm for more than 8 years, in organizational and project roles, launching a unique community investment partnership (on a volunteer basis) and representing the organization on several external community committees my life changed and I was laid off. The transition to my new role took 9 months, and I joined an e-health project working in a new sector.

When I accepted this new role I made a commitment to myself to harmonize my life, where work was not always priority one. As I considered new ways to integrate my personal and work life, while investing in learning around nutrition and wellness, a stronger focus came forward with a blend of harmonizing life, being nourished in all we do and considering the intersections of body, mind and spirit.

In 2017 I graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition from their Natural Nutrition Program and The Nourished Executive was founded.

By moving away from the concept of work-life balance and stepping towards harmonizing life, we create space to reflect and pause personally and professionally.

After completing the natural nutrition program, I reflected on many of the lessons learned over the past few years and made the decision to leave my project role keeping the commitment to myself of greater harmony. In 2018 I joined the Canadian Cancer Society working with a friend in the role as her executive assistant along with starting to build The Nourished Executive.

Then life happened, again. In 2018 I was injured when I fell off my husband’s motorcycle resulting in numerous injuries. My knowledge in nutrition and wellness, along with the ability to build relationships and connection, continues to be a big part of my healing journey.  I continue to be so blessed working with a suite of skilled practitioners specializing in Physio, Pilates and Massage Therapy. As my healing journey, over the past 3 plus years continues, this has opened new doors for connection sharing insights and lessons learned on ways to feel nourished, built on a foundation of nutrition and wellness, to live our best life.

I have gained extensive experience as project manager/executive assistant, in business development, human resources, community investment and event/meeting/conference planning and executive calendar management, with a love for nutrition and wellness. I am a graduate of the Natural Nutrition Program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN), Certified Breathing Coach, accredited by the International Coaching Federation and hold several business certificates including a Business Management Certificate from the BC Institute and Technology (BCIT). I continued to invest in my learning by taking courses, attending conferences and webinars, building connections and making introductions to those who can share ideas and potentially work together.

The Nourished Executive is passionate about two things: implementing strategies that allow access for all youth to pursue careers in Construction, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and empowering professionals to move away from surviving to thriving, built on a foundation of nutrition and wellness.

We welcome the opportunity to work with you as you take this next step in your health and wellness journey.

Be nourished in all you do.
